This is a repost of a post I did on the X-strike Studios board. Hope this isn't a forum foul or something...
In Spoony's recent vlog www.spoonyexperiment.com
He talks at length about the Slammy's and the show preceding it. Wrestling is officially dead to him now because of what he witnessed and I think a piece of Noah Antwiler is broken or even dead. He laughs in agony like a madman for various stretches throughout this vlog because of how deeply the programming and performances destroyed all that he loved and believed in in the sport. Being the person I am, a person who has taken WAY too many psych classes to not be going for a degree any where near the field, I find this saddening. I wonder what will become of Noah after this? He seemed in the video to be deeply, deeply, disturbed by the fact that he enjoyed wrestling ever because of the travesty that passes nowadays for sports entertainment. I know that I stopped watching pro wrestling long ago because I saw the decline, but I never thought it would actually wound the psyche of a grown man. Maybe like I so often do, I am reading more into it than intended, but he closed with "I'm going now, to drink heavily, and I may never stop." This disturbed me and made me worried for Noah. I have said in other posts that I make a connection with the people I see on the internet and stuff, and though I have never even exchanged an e-mail with the Spoony One like I have with the awesome folks of PBC and X-Strike, I feel like I know so much about Noah Antwiler, like he actually is my friend. Weird I know, but bear with me. I am worried about him like he is my friend. Am I overreacting? Am I insane myself? Thoughts? _________________ My feet hurt...with DESTINY! |

Eh, trying to put any kind of logic behind wrestling is fail. Anyone that watches wrestling pretty much knows not to expect any more then what it has always been. The stories were always predictable to me when I was into it. And it was like that for everyone else I knew as well. They were slow for a good long while and then got really awesome. Kinda like DBZ in a way. As in some parts of the plot took many many episodes to finally get to the point lol.
It is for sure entertainment. If you don't think it is then don't watch it lol.
But is that true what he is saying about there being less blood? _________________

Well, yes there is very little to no blood. The reason for that is it's been recently watered down to a TV-PG rating instead of TV-14+ to make safer for younger children and in turn reach a broader audience. That decision is both good and bad depending on the point of view.
But you are right about how people complain about wrestling when they should just take it as it is, WRESTLING! It's not Citizen Kane or The Sopranos! _________________

I used to watch a ridiculous amount of pro wrestling. Not something I'm proud of. Unfortunately once I get on the subject I am appalled as to how much I remember. I had some good times though. I have really fond memories of being second row ringside at a filming of SmackDown!

The problem with wrestling, tho, is when it's like 10% wrestling and 90% drama. Apparently wrestling programs that involve mostly wrestling are getting harder and harder to come by (I don't follow it anymore, but Lee does and this is his usual complaint).
Yes, it's mindless entertainment, but when people aren't getting what they tuned in for, they have every right to complain. _________________ She's like a goth Little Miss Gamer. D:

Well, if you want to see a decent WWE show with actual Wrestling, Check out WWE Superstars on WGN America. Very little to no goofy story lines and mostly fun matches. _________________
