|
|
Over a decade after I lost the power cord to my Sega Genesis, my darling sister gave me a great Christmas gift... a new one! No longer did I have to play Sonic 2 with a *shudder* Gamecube Controller.
Naturally, the first thing I did was hook up the old girl (the Genesis, that is) to my flat-sceen TV.
It didn't work.
So I tried hooking it up to my old TV and it worked fine!
Anyone know a way to get a Genesis (model 2) to work on my modern TV? Or, am I going to have to be one of those guys with multiple TV's in my game room (not that there's anything wrong with that)? _________________ In the land of Hyrule, there echos a Legend...

What kind of jack are you sticking into the TV? Coax? You might try messing around with your TV's settings and make sure you have it on the right channel before giving up...however it WILL look better on your old TV with it's lovely scan lines. _________________ Genesis does what NintenDON'T.

It's coax, the original RF Switch. I'll try messing around with it some more, but I'm not sure what settings I could change. Cable TV works fine through the port and even through the RF Switch, just the Sega's not coming through... _________________ In the land of Hyrule, there echos a Legend...

If I were a more serious collector (at least as far as Sega is concerned) I might think about buying a model 1, but I just wanna get the model 2 that I've had since I was a kid, but couldn't play for a decade to work.
I'll probably end up buying the AV cable, since nothing else seems to work. Four bucks is a good deal, anyway! _________________ In the land of Hyrule, there echos a Legend...

If the new cable doesn't work, it's time to replace the pins. Z had her NES cleaned and the pins replaced by the awesome people at Digital Press, but there are DIY guides on YouTube. _________________ Genesis does what NintenDON'T.
