Okay, so has anyone heard about this? I'm a fan of the original Ed Wood Flick and I mean that sincerely. Its crap but its wonderful crap. There's a remake coming out and it looks basically like they're just making it a zombie movie and trying to make it a legit horror/sci fi film. The trailer doesn't seem to really even elude to it having much humor. I dunno, I'm kinda skeptical. Tell me what you guys think!

here's the website if you need it

What a terrible, terrible idea. There is no way to successfully pull this off. It's catch 22. If you try to make it a good movie, you ruin what makes Plan 9 classic in the first place. If you TRY to make it bad, you're attempting to catch lightning in a bottle. The charm and appeal of Plan 9 is that it's unintentionally awful. Recreating the unintentionally terrible is an exercise in futility.

Yeah I agree with Brett. But I have to admit that I'm a bit curious to see what they do with it.

I MIGHT Redbox it. MIGHT. Otherwise Brett summed it up succintly.

I'm not sure its gonna be a big enough movie to Red Box. Looks pretty low budget. Basically I think my main beef with it is that it looks really violent. I got no real problem with violence, but its Plan Nine! The only violence I want is Tor slamming a guys shoulders, and stock footage of artillery.

I think a remake that follows the same basic storyline, modernized, as a comedy could work. The humor should be subtle however, and the movie done as an homage piece. It should be able to make fun of itself. But it should also try to harness the truly great things about the original. In other words, yeah brett's right. Can't really be done.

Nothing we can do about it. Best thing is to just ignore it or watch it with an open mind. It's like that Karate Kid remake they are coming out with. It doesn't look like a good idea, but they are still doing it.

The new Karate Kid movie is a TERRIBLE IDEA! It has nothing to do with Karate! It's just a stupid "Let's cash in on the name of a popular franchise with our crappy sloppily-written script!" Oh, yeah, and, we should ignore them both. *GRUMBLE* Damn Hollywood urinating on my childhood....

Just curious if anyone has ever watched the Rifftrax for this one. THe original I mean. Some might argue that there is no need for it with Plan 9 but it really is damn funny. There's one with just Mike, and a version with all three of the main guys. I suggest the "Three Riffer Edition" No, I dont work for Rifftrax, I'm from St. Louis which is far from both Minnesota and LA. I do however own every MST3k EVER! Is that nerdy enough for this forum? Laughing

News of interest concerning the Plan 9 remake - James Rolfe, aka AVGN, has just been cast to play the Policeman, role held by Conrad Brooks in the original.

Cool. I'm glad to hear that James Rolfe will be in it. That's just cool in itself.
